Employee Information

Maryland Unemployment Insurance

Marylanders become eligible for benefits starting the day after they are separated from employment. Because of the unprecedented volume of applicants, you may experience longer than normal wait times. It typically takes 2 – 3 weeks to process a claim and issue the first payment.

To provide claimants with a more efficient method of filing please use the following schedule to file an initial claim:

If your last name begins with A – F file your claim on Monday

If your last name begins with G – N file your claim on Tuesday

If your last name begins with O – Z file your claim on Wednesday

Claim filing is open to everyone by phone on Thursday and Friday

Claim filing is open to everyone online Thursday through Sunday

Filing a claim later in the week will not delay your payment or affect the effective date of your claim. Call the Claims Center at 410-949-0022.
